[translated from my original Spanish version]
Greetings everyone wanted to share with you a phrase I took from one of my favorite authors, Napoleon Hill, who says
"Nothing can be called a failure until you accept it as such"
This phrase comes from the subject of how to profit from adversity. This topic is very interesting because many of us grow up accepting things as good or bad, without actually making a deep analysis of the benefits that bad things bring to our lives.
The Venezuelan gay community has not been recognized in the legislation, and there have been debates for years about the recognition of rights for the LGBT community, such as Marriage and Adoption.
I personally think that the obstacles that have arisen along the way, and the discrimination that some us suffer (sometimes at home) has led the gay community to become supportive within itself, there have been created foundations, organizations, conferences, events and even facebook groups (blogs) like this. This has given place to creating empathy and instant solidarity among all those who belong to the gay community and it certainly transcends borders, because I have seen this happen in various parts of the world.
For example, the heterosexual community in Venezuela does not have a "straight pride march"? We have a gay parade march to celebrate, and if it is true that this sexual diversity march includes straight people, let's be honest, they are not a majority in these marches.
So I am in favor of seeing the positive side of life in every circumstance, even those that seem to be bad. There is always a positive side. I have known people who get kicked out of their houses for being gay, and they must learn to survive and move forward very successfully. Had not that happened to them, they would probably stay very quiet at home without making big positive changes in their lives.
Another example, gay Venezuelans in other countries, we become almost one family, we help each other a LOT, and that is something that non-gay people envy from they gay venezuelan community. The way we support each other, it's something to be proud of.
I would like to conclude by saying that all the difficult circumstances that we face have the same effect as exercises on muscles of the body, in other words, it HURTS a lot, and that means we are growing and we are getting stronger as human beings to overcome any situation that we may face in the future.
Hugs, let me know your views.
